I lucked out by finding Mack. I wound up with him as my purchasing agent, as a first time home buyer in an extremely challenging market, completely randomly. Other agents were responding to me as well, but were either curt or skeptical and did not seem like they wanted to actually do anything for me other than collect a commission or suss out if I was willing to throw my money away on an overpriced property in a hot market.I had no idea what I was doing, and Mack explained it all to me. Hours worth of phone conversations, hunting leads, driving out to properties in the middle of nowhere that I had found, which turned out to be wild goose chases. None of this deterred him or moved me to the bottom of his pile. I was honest about my inexperience, and he was patient and explained everything. I told him that I was serious in my pursuit, and he took that and ran with it.By the end of our house hunting, we were working together with a cloud spreadsheet to track all the properties we were looking at, their statuses, what offers I was willing to make on them, etc. It would be very hard to overstate the amount of time and effort he put into my search.His negotiation skills are epic. In a market where houses are going to all cash buyers for tens of thousand over asking, I managed to land a house 12k UNDER asking using traditional financing, in an extremely desirable neighborhood. As I renovate and move into the house, I sometimes have to stop and pinch myself.Great job, Mack! Thank you again!
