We met April 8 years ago at an open house. She was showing a home we opted not to pursue, but we asked if she would help us find a house in that area or where we were currently living. She was more than happy to join us on both sides of the island.We spent a few weeks and we found our home of 8 years in Long Beach with her help. I told her I didn't know if it would be our forever home, so we'd talk again when it was time for her to sell it for us.Fast forward to 8 years and I didn't even think about calling someone else to help us make our next move. We started with looking around in Northport again and as we found things that sparked our interest, we figured it was time to put our house on the market. We worked out a price that we thought would be best for both sides and put it on the market. In 15 minutes we had offers sight un-seen almost at full list. We ended up in a big bidding war and sold for $43,000 over our list price. She was so meticulous in deciding the best course of action, whose offer was the strongest and why. I couldn't imagine going through it with someone else. Then the game was on to find our new home. She was able to get us into homes in no time to look and compare and we found a few that we loved, but with the same wild market we were having the same bidding wars on homes we were looking to purchase. Again, she was there to help guide us to make good decisions based on the whole picture. We were lucky enough to find a fantastic home to start the next fun time in our lives with our daughter and 2 dogs in Northport village!2 purchases and 1 sale and I couldn't imagine having worked with anyone else through it all.

April Hughes Kaufman sees buying and selling homes as much more than a job. She takes genuine joy in helping people to find -- and secure -- their dream home. Before we signed with her to sell our home, we used her to help us find a new home. She is incredibly responsive; I never had to wait more than a couple of hours for a call-back when I left her a message. And she was a whiz at making timely appointments to view houses. She would set up several viewings in a day or an afternoon (both at our request and at her suggestion), and the tours always worked out perfectly. When there were several viewings, her planning of times and locations were spot-on in terms of getting to each place at the right time, and having the homes available for viewing. Furthermore, she is one of the sweetest, friendliest, kindest-hearted people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She sees, and brings out, the best in people. Her clients become her life-long friends. She was also extremely knowledgeable about the mortgage process and recommended us to a great resource for securing the mortgage. The broker was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and overall fantastic! The process was incredibly smooth and moved quickly, and we got a great rate. Finally, when it came to selling our old home, April was amazing! We were selling a home in an area that was not attracting a lot of buyers at the time, and there are many houses that have been sitting on the market for years. It seemed that the only people coming to look were buyers with marginal credit -- and in fact, that proved to be true for the buyers whose offer we accepted. The agent who brought the buyers was, in my opinion, ignorant and unprofessional -- to the extent that when the buyer had questions, he more frequently called April than his own agent! It took FIVE months for these marginal buyers to secure their mortgage and meet all the conditions for closing. Every time my husband and I were ready to give up, April went into hyper-drive, moving heaven and earth to bring the deal to closing. If I could give April Hughes Kaufman 10 stars, I would!
