In July of 2012 I was looking for a house to buy in Fountain Valley or Huntington Beach and after looking on-line at what was available on Zillow, I would list all the houses I was interested in seeing, spending hours looking and printing out the details only to find out that most of them were already in escrow or pending when Robert van der Goes would look them up on the multiple listing service that gave more detail. We went to look at the few on my list that were available and none appealed to me after inspecting them. Then he mentioned a house that had not gone on the market yet that he was handling for the sons of a deceased owner and I fell in love with the tree in front and the potential I could see in the house and it was in a lovely neighborhood in Fountain Valley--a cul de sac on a cul de sac. He handled the interests of both sides very skillfully, working out deals of price negotiation and an illegal, unpermitted roof and windows that were not up to code. I got my dream house that I was given a price reduction to be able to fix it up in the colors of paint and installation of carpet in my choice and the sellers did not have to put the $20,000 that they were going to pay to fix it up in a way that I would have wanted to change. Also, since the house was never listed, I did not have to worry that someone else would perhaps love the house like I had and get into a bidding war.
