In August of 2020, during historic upheaval for the nation and globe, further negotiation with my previous landlords had broken down.. While proven to be the appropriate decision by and for all accounts, it was made short notice and I had only recently begun to feel comfortable in the area. In those initial, uncertain, and confusing times I felt overwhelmed and doubted my ability to handle such a task as a single renter during the beginnings of wild-west quarantine -- in a city I had no living family or contacts to rely on -- and whose most recent rental reference was not the most flattering or equitable.In a single phone call, Melanie Gunn made me feel heard & respected in my decision and trust that there would be help when previously had burnt out in attempting to get. She didn't assume suspicion because, unlike me at the time, she both had and has genuine knowledge of the area. Her experience navigating its strengths and weaknesses honestly & over a length of time that makes her expertise instantly apparent when working with her. As I am a non-traditional, freelance creative with a unique financial situation that was further complicated by the uncertainty of stimulus for myself or anyone aEUR" such an adjustment to an unprecedented change and she still not only made me feel secure in the official dealings that were handled electronically for reasons of safety and travel bans being put into effect. Even the true nightmare of navigating a bank check during that time never even approached sense of pressure or only solution.This ensuing year has been a struggle for everyone. I don't know how to write a review of it anymore than I know how to review the future. It's difficult to evaluate the overall outcome when so incomparable. It wasn't always ideal or smooth, I am unsure how it could have been. However, my sense of security that, whatever hurdle might appear, Melanie would do everything possible to make sure all parties were happy and secure.In particular, I appreciated her honest assessment of her own time and it was clear to me that she worked with rest of The Seabury Hill team as a legitimate team. Even when being handed off to another member of the staff, I knew that it felt seamless because of her hard work in making sure my unique circumstance was handled with genuine care.As someone returning to an area that generations of my family worked and lived, only to be estranged from for over a decade -- I have since come to see the area with those same transformative eyes. There's work to be done, I am sure I did not always make the rocky transition any smoother. She was never anything but professional even in light of any of my anxieties, however unnecessary they may have been in the long run.It continues to astound when considering all the ways in which things might have gone differently. For it to have been so easy and calm, even at the worst of uncertainties for the world's future, is why I am happy to endorse her without hesitation. Even her understanding of how long this promised review took to finally occur speaks to why I'd be a shame to not correct its absence. I might normally hesitate to be so effusive in my endorsement. These once unthinkable last few years are why instead I regret not being able to be more insistent on just what a difference she made for me in a time that still attempting to process fully.Wherever I ultimately may end up, I have gained a home that once had felt like only an emergency way station during a global disaster. Whatever your property related needs may be, I have no doubt that Melanie will be able help you find the next step if not the next home if you only reach out.
