My real estate circumstance was tenuous: I was renting and my landlord decided to sell giving me 45 days to vacate. I needed to get pre-approved, find a home, get an offer accepted and move pretty much flawlessly to make it happen by the deadline set forth. While I've always been warned that friends and business don't mix, I've been friends with Carla long enough to have seen her in action with her real estate clients. I knoew I wanted a Realtor "just like her", so, I threw the caution of "friends in business transactions never end well" to the wind and I am ever-so-glad I did. From the day I got the news, Carla hit the ground running and then, never stopped. She put me in touch with a stellar, stellar Lender to get the financial process rolling because I didn't have one of my own. She asked me to profile my needs and wants, rank priorities and areas. She pulled up properties and sent them to me. Most of all, she was available on the phone and via email - on point and, at my service as a CLIENT. She was skilled in assessing listing prices and guiding potential offers. She was honest with me when she told me an offer wouldn't cut it but I forced my way...and, she was right (I learned that lesson the hard way and lost the house). She made herself available to me to show me homes quickly as they hit the market, which is VERY NECESSARY right now, as things are really heating up. When I found the place I loved, she looked me in the face and said, "if this is the one and you want it, be aggressive and we will get it". She guided me on my offer and, I got the house (and yes, it was a multiple offer situation and it was a nailbiter). During the escrow, as expected, I flipped out (anxious, worried, no plan B) and Carla was supportive but firm. She paced the process, built a solid relationship with the listing Agent and handled everything - every little detail flawlessly. Although she has the energy of a 20 year old, she has the intuition and wisdom of an old sage and, the communication and negotiation skills of a top sales person. She fought for me but was fair with the Seller (a quality I really respect) and, she set my expectations well. I got the home I wanted in the timeline I needed and I attribute so much of that to Carla's expertise and these 4 qualities: tenacious, positive, communicative, credible. In an industry often defined by Realtors who add no value, Carla stands out. She is an exceptional client advocate, REALLY knows her stuff and plans ahead for possible outcomes (like McGyver for real estate). I'm grateful to Carla for being by my side and making this happen with me. It was a tenuous road and she eased the burdens, handing me my keys with tears in her eyes and a bottle of champagne. If you are buying or selling, I encourage you to call her; you are in for a refreshing treat - An Agent who really will work hard for you and, more importantly, make things happen. The right things. In the end, we proved that old adage wrong and remain close friends; I owe that to her for never sacrificing her professionalism while still managing to honor our friendship along the way. That's not an easy thing to do and for anyone deciding whether or not to call her now, hopefully, that's the tipping point. Call her!
