Having retired and wanting to downsize, we listed our house in Monterey with Carol thinking that it would take a year or more to sell like other friends in our situation and with the state of the economy. The house was in a desirable local and priced at what Carol thought would sell. IT SOLD in one day with back up offers. How? Well, for one she got it on the front page of the local paper's real estate section. Two, she got fabulous pictures of the house along with a tremendous narrative that she placed on a dedicated website for our house. Lastly, she had great signage and an early brokers open house. Better yet, the house sold at over appraisal price with no contingent clauses other than inspection.
