After 3 months of planning our trip from the U.S. to PR, starting our 2nd home purchase, we connected with Mr. Lucena the week before our arrival. He seemed knowledgeable, though he seldom responded by email (our preference, due to our hectic work/family life), he did speak well during our two phone calls, and seemed open to supplying us with listings that matched our parameters. The day of our departure, we still had not received any listings, and expressed some grave concerns and stress over coming to PR for a very short 4 day visit and no itinerary of homes to visit. He seemed fine that we would be able to see homes, but kept expressing concern that listing agents were not responding to him (as his excuse). After we arrived, we were told he could be with us 2 days later, thus cutting our available time on our visit in half!! The next day, he then told us we could not see properties without proof of our cash!! We were not prepared, though we have enough cash to buy 4 of the homes we were looking at!!!!! He then told us we could not visit ANY homes!!! We had to rush and find another agent who had no issues, and we viewed 6 properties, putting a back up offer on one!!! Clearly, this agent was only concerned in getting his Buyer Broker agreement signed and purchase cash verified...but failed to tell us that until after we landed in PR!! He simply does not seem comfortable or experienced with working for international buyers!!
