We had been looking for a Historical Estate to restore and start a business for a long time. After looking at several properties on the East coast, most of which we found on Preservation Nation.org, we found Forest Oaks in Natural Bridge, VA. The photos were poor, the description brief, and we knew nothing of the area. We contacted the listing agent, who was really of no help at all. Answered very few questions, and just left it with us that if we wanted to see the property, just let him know. We then did a search of other realtors in the area, and came across the ad of Paula Martin and The ReMax Team. Paula?s photo looked genuine, friendly and professional. We contacted Paula and she was very happy to hear from us and what we were interested in looking at and what our plans are. Paula had put together a bound itinerary of homes for sale including Forest Oaks. At least 6 properties total within the 4 days of our visit. We kept going back to Forest Oaks. Although the others were all very nice and met closely to what we were looking for, Forest Oaks was really what we wanted.After some negotiations and research and leg work, we made our offer on the Estate in what we felt was a fair offer, considering the work that needed to be done. Escrow opened in September, and was set to close in early December. Three days prior to the expected closing date, on a Friday afternoon, we learned that Forest Oaks was set to go to public auction on the Lexington Courthouse steps the following Monday. We contacted Paula and she acted quickly in our behalf to find out what had caused this mix up, considering the property was currently in the 12th hour of escrow, and she stopped the auction proceedings and the Estate closed on the expected date with no other hitches. This was all done while we were in Arizona. Since that time I have highly recommended Paula Martin and her team to whomever is looking for any type of real estate, Old or New, Large or Small.
