I cold-called Terese and Doug right after lunch on a Friday based on what looked to be their visible best track record for our South San Jose neighborhood in Zillow. There was a callback in 35 minutes, and they turned out to be the best. I've subjectively felt that in real estate transactions there's so many steps of administration, legalities and consequential sums -- the steps ultimately have logic and function (with certain distortions) and we can finish these steps, but they feel daunting as we work through them. And if we're not used to these experiences, then the time frames and long chains of steps don't exactly feel intuitive or natural. We can all get through real estate activities and large-scale transactions -- if it wasn't possible for thousands to do it every day in every locality, it wouldn't be an industry -- but there's a general assumption that "everyone in society can't all be specialists on a topic, so that's why the choice of agent is make-or-break in order to get through it comfortably".- There was a kickoff meeting to frame all the subtopics and timelines in a project mgmt. style- The kickoff visit included an initial starter inspection before we mutually signed agreements, and the depth of inspections and steps ramped up from there- Terese brought us together with 3rd parties to help us get things done on time- ... And at a very good steady pace; I had the energy to work through my move-out & administrative steps relatively fast, but the maximization of pace is up to us- Internal communication with me- External representation toward buyers, agents, contractors, city & state govt. agencies, HOA, escrow work with the title company she brought us together with- Many educational mini-conversations as I asked questions about steps and processes, which had permanent value as an experience- Systematic saving & forwarding of contractor receipts, reminders to save receipts for future purposes== It's all a lot of work, and good work to be doing!
