Mike Smallegan is your guy! My wife and I had been discussing the idea of moving over the past year or two, and had actually planned on putting out house up for sale after Fall of 2016 we had a couple of projects we felt needed to be done for it to be aEURoesell readyaEUR? in our minds. Well our neighbors had their house on the market back in November 2015 and Mike was the listing agent. Out of curiosity and to confirm just how much more work we SHOULD do to get the house ready I called him and set up a meet. He gave us some pointers on what we COULD/SHOULD do to make it sell ready but ultimately told us the house was ready as is but also said we should wait til closer to spring to list (because we have a pool). After he left we felt pretty confident on listing out house but wanted another opinion to be safe. So we spoke with 3 or 4 other realtors and while they all seemed competent we felt like they were missing something that indicated they wouldnt look out for our best interest and didnt give us the aEURoewarm fuzzyaEUR? like Mike did so we got back with Mike this last March/April to see what kind of houses were out there and at that point went with him the rest of the way. As a Buying Agent- Mike was incredible as a veteran and USAA Member I was going to do all of my financing/Insurance etc. through them because that is all Ive known, but Mike had me talk to a local lender (Treadstone Lending- who are also amazing). He also was always updating us on new listings he listened to what our needs were and would send us listings accordingly. Once we found a home we seriously considered and we submitted an offer. Knowing there would be multiple offers, Mike helped us determine a realistic and fair bid. He also suggested we submit a personal letter with the offer, and it worked! (According to the sellers our letter was the reason our offer was accepted because one of the other offers was actually better.) From there he was able to help us choose a REALLY good and detailed home inspector and was with us every step of the way keeping us informed. As a Selling Agent- The Sellers had accepted our offer on contingent of selling our current home and Mike wasted NO TIME getting it on the market. While he worked fast he also made sure everything was done right and not just slapped together. He took care of getting home professionally photographed, and ready for the showing and helped us coordinate everything so there was minimal impact on our personal lives and schedules (have two babies and two dogs this can be difficult). Through his hard work and dedication to us and our home we had an accepted offer on the house less than week from listing. Once we had an accepted offer, Mike continued to protect us and our interests throughout the sale of our home. During this process we hit a couple of hurdles with the buyers of our home due to complications with their lender and agent, and Mike showed on a couple of occasions that he knew his stuff and wasnt playing games, and while it was at times somewhat frustrating and stressful. Mike did everything in his power to alleviate that stress and frustration. He was available almost anytime day and night. (which we took him up on, on a couple of occasions). The end result was we were able to buy and sell our new house and even have extra time for moving. Originally we had 30 days for both homes but thanks to Mike we got an extra week in our current home to make the transition easier. As person- Mike is a standup guy. This is the second home I have purchased and there was a night and day difference between Mike and my last realtor (hence why I'm writing about Mike and not them). Mike truly cares about his profession and it shows. In the entire process EVEN when we werent sure of who we were going to go with, Mike was going above and beyond to look out for my families best interest. From the very beginning of just the casual conversation on the prospect of selling to both buying and selling, to getting my baby girls gifts at closing/ and my wife and I gifts as well. Even now that most of the stuff is wrapped up he is still in contact with us making sure everything is going well and offering his help if we need it. Even in this review I know I'm leaving things out because he did so much to help us out. If there comes a time we want/need to change homes/locations I know Mike is the guy I will contact, and you should too. He sets the bar for what a realtor should be.
