So Melissa came to our rescue after another agent stopped returning phone calls and e-mails. A mutual friend of ours had highly recommended her, so we figured what could it hurt? If we didn't like her, no big deal, and move on. We loved her. She was forward about not knowing Howard County as well as some of the other counties in the area, but she did her research and was able to help us in finding a home. I would send her e-mails with a listing of 10+ houses, and she would try to get us into every house on the list as time would allow. There was one trip where we did hit up over 10 houses, and she was there every step of the way, not discouraged or pushing us to just get a house. When visiting houses, she would point out nuances or issues we may have and even took the time to see if certain things that were part of the house were in the contract (i.e. a shed, washer and dryer, etc). Even going to new developments, she knew the questions to ask and would ask specifics about the perks and specials they were having and the fees associated with them. In addition, when we ended up terminating a contract, after we realized we jumped into it without looking into the area, she helped us go through the technical jargon and contract documents to get out of it without losing our deposit or being charged a fee. When it came to the whole contract process, after one flub because the interest in house buying (especially in Howard County) was increasing, she would contact the selling realtor directly and ensure we were not wasting our time trying to put in an offer. You know when your real estate is devoted to her profession, when she sends a text message at around 11:00pm after her conversation with the selling agent, who she had been trying to contact all day. She was there every step of the way, which we found extremely beneficial as first time home buyers. She responds to e-mails and returns phone calls. Love her and recommend her to anyone trying to buy.
