This is about 3 months late, but better late than never, right? The short: James was wonderful to work with, and I would highly recommend him. The long: This was our first time buying a home, and to say we didnt know what we were doing is accurate. We looked at homes online for a couple of months, sharing things we liked with each other, hesitant to view something in person. ItsaEUR| scary the amount of money homes are going for in 2021 with the low interest rates and we were intimidated, but we finally liked a home enough to sign up for an in-person tour. James was selected as our agent for us, and Ill be honest I was skeptical. I had heard that its best to work with agents you know personally, and I was uncertain how it would go with Zillow and with our auto-assigned agent. On top of that, we were still learning for ourselves what we wanted from a house, so we didnt want to waste someones time as we honed in on what we wanted. It didnt matter to James. When we finally met him in person, we immediately liked him. He taught us what to look for, encouraged us to just go out and view homes, and reminded us often that we werent wasting his time. He never got impatient with our long list of questions, never seemed frustrated when our aEURoeneedsaEUR? evolved over time. We put down two offers, both over asking with a strong DD, but both were unsuccessful, and it was unexpectedly emotional when we lost. We felt like there couldnt be any more great homes that would come around, especially in this market. James kept us looking forward and encouraged us that there would be something else. When made our third offer, James guided us on our offer based on the circumstances of the seller, and our offer was accepted. When that happened, we once again didnt know what were doing, what inspections to do, who should do them, all those important things that occur after an offer is accepted. We leaned again on James who helped us learn which inspections we should have performed, organized them, and he negotiated with the seller to have things fixed.Overall it was a great homebuying experience in a very competitive market. From what friends have shared from their own experiences buying a home this year, we feel very lucky with our purchase. If it wasnt for James, we might still be looking.
