After 2-3 months of general looking at homes and lots on Zillow and a few other websites, my wife and I came across what we thought was a good match for our retirement plans.With no solid idea of how Zillow really worked, we went ahead and clicked on "Contact Agent". This was late on a Saturday afternoon, but within an hour, I had finished a brief conversation with a Zillow rep and was fully engaged with my new agent Hillary. We discussed the lot in question, her experience and background and of course what my wife and I were looking for in a spot to start making our retirement home.Within a few days, Hillary and I were meeting at the property for a walk around looked at the place. After seeing the place in person we all agreed that the asking price was fair, so we made our offer with a short list of contingencies. After a short round of negotiating, we settled on a lower price for the removal of 2 contingencies.Over the next ~couple of weeks, Hillary chased all the details getting a survey completed for us and helping us as we worked with a mortgage bank. After we ultimately decided to pay cash for this land, Hillary was able get the close pulled in a couple of weeks.Even after the closing, Hillary has continued to help us with contacts regarding the utility company contacts we'll need to make.
