Derek is for sure a trustable and reliable resource when it comes to sell/buy a house in East Bay. We used Derek as our agent when buying our new home. Before making the offer: Derek cared about our preferences for a home and remembered those details dearly, and precisely recommended inventory meets our need as soon as the house was on market- or even before market. In reality Derek proactively told us about the house we bought before it was on market, we got to visit the house with him privately before the open houses, and this allowed us more time to think whether this is a house we really want. Derek also spent one hour walking through the disclosure with us before we decided made the offer to give us a ease of mind that this house was in good condition.When making an offer: Derek is very sharp for the local market. Although the housing price was changing rapidly especially at the moment we bought the house, he still made very good estimates on the price we should put on offer for a better chance to win the bidding war, but not overpay. We eventually offered the high limit number of the window he predicted, and we made it. It took the seller about 24 hours to notify us the offer was accepted, which I think was a sign that our offer was good enough to beat other offers, but not by much-- which is exactly what we want. After offer was accepted:Derek told us afterwards that the best few offers were pretty close so the seller was almost asking the few finalists to do counter offer, which would be another bidding war and very likely we would give up, but Derek and our loan agent (change home mortgage) made a lot of efforts on convincing the seller that we were the best candidate with excellent finance, and eventually the seller decided to select us without asking us to counter the offer. I believe their efforts during the offer selection played a critical role. Their efforts perfectly avoided another round of bidding and secured the house in a price within our budget.Before closing:There were a few hiccups during our loan process. Derek didn't involve much for this process, but he was still accessible, and offered effective communication for us with loan office.During the final walkthrough, Derek again gave us a lot of useful suggestions on how to touch up some imperfections in the house. At the same time, he kept in touch with seller's agent closely for our inquiries/requests, and most of time the requests were fulfilled (I also appreciate the seller and seller's agent for their kindness on taking our requests) Closing to present:We still had a few requests/inquiries about the house and Derek was responsible for the communication beyond closing. Derek still gave updates and checked on us after house was closing. He was also very nice to give us the "closing gift", which he didn't need to, to congratulate for our new home. I am not sure whether I can reveal what the gifts are here in public, maybe not, but one of the gifts was an item to enjoy when something good like this happens, and another gift were super useful items for all new home owners. He really shows he cares about us as friends, not only one-time client.Overall I recommend him to anyone who would like to buy/sell house in this area (El Cerrito, Berkeley, Albany, Richmond, Pinole, Alameda, etc).

Derek helped us sell our home in Tara Hills and to say we were happy with the results would be a massive understatement. We had been in our house for 11 years so thought of selling seemed very stressful. Derek was amazing. From the start, he walked us through the process and what we should expect.
