My husband and I have worked with Chris Matthews for the past 8 years during which he has helped us purchase 3 residential homes. When we first relocated to Austin, it was a very daunting task to buy a house given that we didnt really know what would fit our needs at the time. As first-time parents with a newborn, it was hard to anticipate which neighborhood would provide us the best options. So, what does this mean? It means that we literally looked at over 100 plus homes with Chris. Everywhere in Austin. And somehow, Chris was extremely patient, he put aEURoeour needsaEUR? above his own and truly walked with us every step of the way. As customers, you do get worried if you are aEURoewastingaEUR? your agents time; but he never gave me that worry, and it was great to feel that we could take our time, and pick a house that would be best for us. Chris was also a great communicator. Every text and phone call was returned promptly and he was always willing to find the answer to my questions; and believe me, I had plenty that would drive most agents crazy. If you havent gotten the impression, I am an extremely high demanding client. I am very picky, selective, and need to know all my optionsaEUR|.and Chris has proven to us that he can roll with us. Another thing that impresses me about Chris is his knowledge of homes in general. He has been through remodeling projects and new constructionsaEUR"he knows exactly what type of questions to ask and what to look for. He has an impeccable eye for details, and this is important for us because we needed him to be the eyes and ears for things that we could easily overlook. Additionally, hes like a Jack-of-All-Trades; he has a lot of fancy gadgets that would allow us to know more details of a home: how big is this room? whips out the laser measurer; is there water damage on the ceiling, ummm. This looks like wet paint?aEUR|.whips out the moisture reader. I know for a fact that not many agents have working knowledge about the standing condition of the houseaEUR| and quite frankly, these are the things that I, as a buyer would want to know beforehand, and not just waiting for the home inspection report (see.. I am a high demanding client). As our family has grown over the years, our needs have changed and we have even become more selective! (gasp!). My latest challenge for Chris was to help us purchase a home on a particular street, with a particular square footage, and even more particular set of parameters. Everything all sounds great except there were no houses like that on the market. Chris came up with the plan of writing letters to potential sellers with homes that fit those particular parameters. To make a long story short, we are living in our dream house now! Finally, before I bore you with more with how great Chris is and how much greater his wife is (ha ha), I want to mention that I am extremely happy with the purchase price of all the homes I bought. The city of Austin doesnt make it easy for buyers, as there is a lot of competition here. With Chriss help, we have always ended up with a home that we wantedaEUR"also at a price that we wanted. I know there have been many of my friends who have felt that they have overpaid for their homes, just because they are willing to go up to get their dream house. Chris has always advised us to be cautious and once again, has shown us that he is easy to work with during those difficult/challenging transactions. Chris is very easy going, highly driven, personable, and really understands your needs as customers. He truly will give it his all to help you find your house! We are grateful for his help!
