Mark Cartret

Mark Cartret brings his experience as a successful business owner to NorthGroup, Inc. His business background has strengthened his high level of expertise in marketing, leadership, professionalism and outstanding client service.  As an accredited investor managing numerous holding companies, Mark has purchased, sold, or handled properties and businesses since 1993. He began working in investments and property development in 1998 and founded a successful investment holding company in 2004.  While managing the businesses of some of the largest insurance companies in the United States in the corporate surety bond market, he founded North Carolina’s first special purpose captive insurance company. The insurance company partnered with AIG in 2014. Mark has founded, bought and sold many businesses and has developed an understanding of unique acquisitions of a diverse nature. Mark, featured in the Wall Street Journal as “2003 Businessman of the Year” is a former gubernatorial appointee from the State of North Carolina. He is the former headmaster of MBCA and served on the board of trustees at Southeastern Community College. He has served on the college’s foundation. Born in Wilmington North Carolina, and while growing up on a tobacco farm in Columbus County, Mark’s favorite pastime has been spending weekends and summers along the NC / SC coastal regions.  He has been an officer of the court for almost 30 years and continues to serve in that capacity today.
