That’s why we proudly announce our recent $5,000 donation to StandUp for Kids Chicago, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of youth homelessness. This contribution will help fund critical resources and support programs for homeless and at-risk youth in the Chicago area.
Why StandUp for Kids Chicago?
Everyone deserves a home and to feel safe, yet so many people live without these two simple things.
StandUp for Kids has been at the forefront of youth advocacy for over 30 years, providing outreach, mentoring, and essential services to young people facing homelessness. Their mission is to empower homeless and at-risk youth by providing life-saving support and promoting self-sufficiency.
In Chicago, the need for support is particularly urgent. According to the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, an estimated 68,000 youths experience homelessness in the city each year. StandUp for Kids offers vital programs such as street outreach, housing support, and educational assistance—resources that directly impact the lives of vulnerable youth.
These children are trying to figure out how to survive in an adult world. Oftentimes, the clothing, bus passes, and food packs that StandUp for Kids provides are vital to the youths’ survival.
However, homeless youth are often invisible as they try to blend in with their peers and struggle to survive. To address this, StandUp for Kids seeks out these youths by walking the streets, connecting with kids, and discovering locations of temporary refuge, like libraries.
StandUp for Kids helps kids move from crisis to connecting by building trusting relationships, promoting safety, and advocating for them. Whatever they may need, StandUp for Kids provides resources and stability for these ignored youth. With low to no barriers to accessing care, StandUp for Kids can reach homeless youth in a unique and impactful way.
