About Tom Gale
Tom moved to Wilmington from Greensboro, NC in the 1990s when he attended UNC Wilmington. The friendly people, warm climate, and beautiful beaches nearby made Tom realize that he wanted make Wilmington his permanent home. Tom has been a REALTOR(R) since 2005 and has immersed himself in real estate education and local policy, such as WRAR Community Affairs and NCAR Forms Committee. Team Gale aims to be good neighbors and great agents across the Cape Fear region. We have 12 full-time agents and 2 executive administrative assistants. Our team was founded in 2005 by Jack Gale, and continues under the leadership of Tom Gale. 1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Hiring a buyer's agent in NC typically costs the buyer nothing since most sellers agree to pay the commission even thought your buyer's agent is representing you. Find an agent you like and is knowledgeable and work with them instead of jumping from agent to agent. Not only is is easier and more efficient to use one agent, but if they've helped you with all showings, they get a better sense of what you like and don't and more effectively help you find the right home.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
List with someone that knows the market really well and has a true marketing plan. Some people list with someone that's a friend or because the agent is reducing their commission. A good REALTOR like a good surgeon. Experience matters, so hire the best.
3) What types of clients have you worked with?
My team and I have helped thousands of buyers and sellers over the past decade, so we've seen it all before and know the market well. Whether you're a first time home buyer, an investor, or anything in between, we're able to help.
4) Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
My team helps about 200 buyers and sellers each year, so I'm not sure that I have a favorite. For me, it's about building those lifelong relationships. I enjoy keeping in touch with my sellers and buyers, so it's flattering to me to get repeat business and referrals from past clients. To me, that's the greatest compliment.
5) How did you get started in Real Estate?
I joined my father, who is a REALTOR and had more clients than he could handle. Team Gale gradually grew out of that and now has about a dozen agents across Southeastern NC working as neighborhood specialists.
6) Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
In addition to lots of real world experience, continuing to further my real estate education is important to me. As a result, I have more designations than just about any REALTOR in town. I do this because knowledge is power and I want you to have the best REALTOR possible.
