First, get pre-qualified to see what your spending power is. When you're serious about home buying, obtaining a pre-qualfication is essential to know what loan program you're eligible for. All homes will not conform to all loan programs.

Curb appeal is first and foremost as that is the first impression. Make sure hedges are trimmed, yard mowed, weeds pulled. Inside, declutter to make the rooms look more spacious. If paint is odd color, consider painting the room something neutral.

I have worked with clients with little means all the way up to million dollar client. Most of my clientele fall in between and just salt of the earth, hard-working individuals who need professional guidance to get to the finish line, whether it is buying or selling.

A homeless Vietnam veteran who was living in his vehicle became a proud homeowner recently. A collective effort with my daughter, the other realtor and friends, delivered furniture, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies and electronics. We banded together to help our veteran and it was beautiful. He literally had tears in his eyes on settlement day.

I had worked for an integrated engineering firm that had to close due to owner illness. So, in my middle age, I reinveted myself as a realtor. I have a strong work ethic taught to me by the engineering firm, and the skills I used in the proposal business have definitely helped me in my real estate career.
