Steve Pener is not only an excellent real estate broker, but he is also a really good person which makes him wonderful to work with. Steve listened carefully and thoughtfully to us when we decided to list our house for sale. While always professional, Steve is also quite down to earth - and he has a great sense of humor - which comes in quite handy during such an important transaction. He offered very helpful advice along the way, from preparing the house, through showing and negotiating the sale. I truly can't say enough good things about Steve Pener. He's smart, helpful, responsive and a "straight shooter" who will be a great partner in selling or buying. Thank you, Steve!
Steve was very helpful in our search for a home. He is very knowledgeable about the local market and of construction. He is very reliable, efficient and responsive and gets answers to questions quickly. Overall excellent!
Steve helped me and my family move from Washington D.C. to Litchfield. He patiently spent a year with us, first introducing us to Litchfield County neighborhoods, learning about the school systems, and showing us a wide range of house (from fixer uppers to shinging beauties). He was with us every step of the way. We are now happily settled in our dream home and owe much of this to Steve's dedication, knowledge, and good spirit.
It was a pleasure working with Steve and his expertise in the market that he works in was fantastic. Our house was priced well, photographed well, written up well and it resulted in a quick sale. Steve was always honest, prompt, and direct in his communications as well.
From the moment we enlisted Steve's help with the process of selling our house, he was extraordinarily responsive. Having taken the time to understand our needs and desires for the sale of the house, he went to work to list and show the house, consulting with us along the way. His sound advice, his in-depth knowledge of the Kent area and the ins and outs of selling a house, his advocacy and assurances throughout the process, and his natural calm in all of our communications made our experience a very positive one, one which allowed us to trust that the house would be sold. Honestly, we are very grateful to Steve for navigating us through a process we knew little about before heading into it. His relationship with everyone from our lawyer to those who did the work to address inspection items, all of whom he recommended, served us well. We would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a realtor who diligently attends to all the details and with whom it is incredibly easy to communicate.
To preface: I had never been through the process of selling a house, and the prospect of this undertaking left me feeling out of my depth, having been a tenant for most of my life. When I was interviewing potential realtors, Steve was the obvious choice for me. First, he had been recommended by a neighbor. But more importantly, I responded to his overall demeanor. Steve comes across (and is) a really nice, relatable guy. He never seemed like a salesman, or the typical "real estate agent" anxious to get me signed up. I felt that he was really straight-forward, and was reliable to give his honest opinions about pricing, pros and cons of the house, etc. I would characterize him as a realistic optimist regarding pricing, and we ended up closing higher than I had anticipated. My house was somewhat unusual for the area, and it helped that Steve really liked my house (and I believe him--this was not him saying perfunctory niceties). I felt reassured by his enthusiasm. His experience in real estate and especially in construction was valuable--he was quick to identify any problems with the house, that might affect the sale. Steve was really helpful beyond the boundaries of his job--he took on many small tasks that needed to get done, finding tradesmen, organizing cleaners, etc. There were many showings of my house, and Steve always promptly provided feedback from these showings. Above all, I trust Steve. Clearly, he wants to make the sale, but I always felt that he had my best interests at heart, that he understood all of my concerns. I would definitely recommend Steve to anyone, without any reservations. His communication skills, kindness and business ethics made the whole process so much less daunting. And my house was only on the market for 4 months!
Steven was very helpful and honest during the process of helping of find a cottage to buy. He was just as willing to show properties that weren't his listings, as well as his own. In the end we chose to buy one of his listings, even though we felt no pressure to do so, and he was as fair as possible in trying to bring us, the buyers, and the seller together to find a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend Steve as an agent, and we will use his services again.
I happened to find Steve by accident - we fell in love with a house (the one we bought actually) the he was the listing agent for. After over a year of looking for a vacation house, and being frustrated with the lack of response and/or knowledge of so many realtors, Steve was a god send. Not only did he get back to me right away, but he went above and beyond to ensure we looked at several other homes so that we could compare. Steve lives in the general area of where we were looking, and his expertise was essential in our search for a home. He took an entire weekend driving us from home to home, and made sure that we really got what we needed. To top it off, he is a genuinely nice guy. It was a pleasure working with him and getting to know him better. To me, the relationship you have with you realtor is crucial in finding you the right home, and Steve will definitely be someone that we would work with again.
Steve showed me houses which were appropriate to my search and then arranged repeat visits to the one which interested me the most. He guided me through the four-part inspection process and helped me successfully negotiate a price adjustment based on those reports. One of my main concerns was a damp, unpaved cellar; he contacted and met with a waterproofing contractor when I couldn't be there. (This same contractor just completed that work, and I look forward to using a space which I had avoided.) Right through the closing, he helped in every way with courtesy and professionalism. He is a very pleasant man with great knowledge of the market.
