About Rodney Hicks
I was born and raised in a small town in Georgia and at 18 I joined the Air Force and ended up serving this great country for over 30 years. During my career I moved over a dozen times, which has given me a unique understanding of the discourse associated with moving. I understand what it means to uproot my family, move across the country or around the globe, and the stress associated with starting over in an unfamiliar place. While traveling the world, I received a graduate degree In Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and used my education to improve my understanding and interaction with people from different cultures and walks of life. As a service member, I became an expert in human resources/relations, customer service, and leadership and combined those attributes with the Air Force's Core Values of Integrity First, Service before Self and Excellence in all we do...when I retired I didn't abandoned those values, instead they became an innate part of my Real Estate career. When I'm not taking care of my clients, I'm spending time with my daughters and son. We enjoy the beach, kayaking, paddle boarding, and of course topping off a fun day with a great meal at our favorite pizza place or just putting something on the grille at home. Regardless of what we do, it's all about spending time and making memories. Although I enjoy working with clients and tending to my family, at times I want to let my hair down by enjoying a game of golf, I'm really bad though, working on my son's classic truck or just doing home improvement projects to make our home more comfortable and inviting. When looking to find your first home, your next home or investment property, I will provide you the level of service and expertise you deserve. Taking care of my clients and providing the best service possible, through every aspect of a Real Estate transaction is my number one priority. 1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
See where you stand financially prior to purchasing. After this assessment you will have a road map on what you need to do to become a home owner.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Ensure your home is priced competitively in the current market.
3) What types of clients have you worked with?
I've worked with buyers, sellers, investors and first time home buyers. I've also help clients buy and sell with pre-forclosures, short sales and auction properties.
4) Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
My last transaction was a multiple offer situation where I was able to secure the property for my buyer. My buyer then got cold feet and wanted to back out of the deal. I didn't sway him one way or another, we just had an honest conversation about his desires. After our conversation I asked him to sleep on it and let me know the next day what he wanted to do. After 2 days of deliberation he decided to stay in the deal now he and his wife are thrilled to have their first home!!
5) How did you get started in Real Estate?
As my bio states, I spent over 30 years in the military and bought and sold many properties along the way. What I found was a lack of integrity when dealing with some agents, it seems their only motivation was a paycheck. I decided to enter the Real Estate world as my motivation is to help people not just collect a pay check. I adopted my motto "Service Before Self" from the United States Air Force's core Values and I truly believe in that!
6) Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
I have a Masters Degree in Human Relations along with over 30 years of working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. My ability to relate to people regardless of their beliefs, values or station in life has been the hallmark of my military service.
