Norm MacDonald

Norm graduated from Furman University, attending on a football scholarship playing for Bob King, Dick Sheridan and Art Baker. He received his MBA from Clemson University. Norm is a graduate of Greenville Chambers Leadership Greenville Class XIII. He had 20 years experience as the Bellsouth Marketing Branch Manager and State Marketing Manager. Norm also managed a start up division of Hartness International before moving to Real Estate with The Cliffs Properties in Greenville. He started with C Dan Joyner in 2005. Phyllis began her career in Real Estate in 1979 with Johnny Flynn Company and then U S Shelter. She then changed to advertising sales with several local stations including WFBC, WMYI, WROQ, and WSSL, then to print media with Greenville Magazine and other publications and finally with Infinity Marketing Solutions before joining Norm at C Dan Joyner Realtors in early 2006. They have 4 adult children, who graduated from UGA, NC State, Furman and Clemson. Phyllis's heritage goes deep. Her grandfather was Mayor of Greenville and was instrumental in getting the Hyatt to move to downtown Greenville which started the downtown revitalization in the 1970s. Her great grandfather was a police office in Greenville who was killed in the line of duty. Norman's family moved here from Scotland in the 1950's for his dad's career in textiles. Norm was a standout in high school with football and played in the Shrine Bowl in 1970, started on two straight State Championship basketball teams. They have been married 34 years and have been active with many charities over the years. They are members of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church. I was very impressed when I first met with Norm by his local knowledge and by his experience in the Greenville area. I have lived in Greenville for about a year now so I had a few ideas of areas I'd like to be in, but Norm helped me determine if there were other places I might like, or if some of the places I did like actually weren't a good area to be in. I was also on a bit of a tight schedule and Norm was very helpful and willing to meet with me often so that we could look at a large number of houses in a matter of a couple of weeks. The seller of this house was really motivated to sell, so when it came to negotiations I told Norm what my IDEAL price was and additional conditions (seller pays closing costs, repairs, etc). I was willing to deviate from this ideal price some but that was my "in a perfect world" price. Norm negotiated and got us the exact ideal price and terms I had told him!
