Hard to believe Michael Mei (MM) has such great online reviews. My experience with him in selling my Irvine apartment has been highly disappointing. He doesn't deserve even one star in my opinion. I've worked with over a dozen realtors and this experience with MM was by far the worst. MM completely misjudged the Irvine market and priced my home way way over what the market value was. He wanted to price it higher, but I advised him to not go as high. It is shocking how off the mark he was! Despite dropping the price significantly after many weeks on the market, my house didn't sell. As soon as my listing contract with him expired, I switched to another realtor and was able to sell my home promptly. Best decision I ever made! I couldn't work with MM for another minute more. I experienced nothing but unprofessionalism with Michael Mei. Examples - his team shows up 20+ minutes late for a 2-3 open house they are hosting. I call to find out out why they are late and I'm told they have a "flat tire"! I was promised a luxury brochure and at the first open house, there was a single page standard printout of the property. I'm told that the luxury brochures are "at the printers" and will be ready for next weekend's open house. Really, you have your 1st open house unprepared? He will cut corners at every opportunity he gets. At most of the the open houses, there wasn't even a sign-in sheet for prospective buyers. Because I couldn't trust him, I had to drive 30 mins for every open house to check on him and his team every weekend. Beware if you use his recommended contractors/handymen. They will overcharge you and do a horrible job. His painter did not paint the baseboards and there were streaks all over the house yet Michael thought it was OK to go to market with it. After open houses, I frequently had to follow-up with him since I never got regular updates. Unless I asked, I was not kept in the loop on showings, So many great relators in Irvine, do yourself the biggest favor and DO NOT work with Michael Mei. I wish I had the benefit of this review before I contracted with him. I would have sold my home 3-4 months sooner. You have been warned, engage with him at your own risk. Good luck.
