The short story: Mary Beth is fantastic, my husband and I are loving the home she worked so hard to help us get. The long story: my husband and I started looking for a home about a year and a half ago. After working with two other realtors in the area, and being shown nothing out fire damaged, moldy, crazy scary homes we were about ready to give up. We thought based on those experiences that the only things we could afford were fixer uppers. So out of the blue my husband contacts Mary Beth after seeing a home on Zillow he was interested in. She showed us that home, and after getting to know our needs and wants, Mary Beth showed us great homes that were a better fit. She worked with the inspectors, the bank, our lawyers, the other realtors in the area until we were able to find the right home, at the right time, and she helped get us a great deal. What impressed me the most was her diligence in helping us find what we needed. She didn't just show us listing after listing waiting for us to go, "That's the one" or to settle on whatever she was showing us, but rather, she sifted through the potentials to find the best homes for our budget. She's a tough negotiator, and she's not afraid of a no. We had picked a home out and the inspector found a "mold like substance." Mary Beth asked the owners to fix it, through their realtor, their response was, "It's not mold, only a mold like substance, so we don't have to." She fought for us, and when we talked to Mary Beth about it, and she wasn't afraid to tell us, that it was in our best interest to let this home pass. She was confident that we could find a better home. And we did. When we finally found the home we purchased, she helped us not just make the offer, but she communicated with the bank, the lawyers, the other realtor, the inspector, and everyone in between. She kept us informed, and communicated with us every step of the way. She made sure that this house was everything we were asking for and more. It was move in ready, at a price we could afford, with all the bells and whistles we wanted, and none of what we didn't want. I've dealt with a few realtors in the community before, and hands down, my experience with Mary Beth was by far the best. I highly recommend working with her.

It is because of Mary Beth that my house is now sold. She did everything. She got it ready for viewing, took photos, posted it on Zillow, organized open houses, and kept an eye on prices of other houses, and on new building in the area. After her last update, we agreed to bring the price down, and she had a buyer within the week. But she did not stop there. She organized contractors to make the repairs necessary for the buyer, and she organized the movers to take out the furniture that remained. I was far away. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is selling a property.

Our past experience with Real Estate people hasn't been stellar. When my husband and I were living in New York, we went apartment hunting with a pushy real estate woman who was more interested in getting a commission than finding an apartment that suited our needs. Buying a house in Lexington, Virginia with Mary Beth Harris was like a breath of fresh air. Having never been home owners, we were majorly overwhelmed. Although we knew the kind of things we were looking for in a house, we had no idea where to start. Luckily, Mary Beth guided us every step of the way. With our 8 week old baby boy in tow, Mary Beth showed us over a dozen houses that fit our criteria. She rocked our kid while we toured dozens of places looking for a home. She wasnt just trying to make a sale. She wanted us to be happy and she didnt stop until we were. When we found the house we wanted, she helped us negotiate the price and held our hands through the mind-boggling steps of becoming homeowners. She was with us during the house signing as moral support and cheerleader. She even was kind enough to get us our very first housewarming present. Looking for a house is hard. Finding the right one is even more difficult. Its exhausting and frustrating, but she didnt give up. We now own a beautiful house that was well within our price range and met all of our criteria. Mary Beth was positive, upbeat, and worked tirelessly to make sure we found a place to call home.
