I did my homework when choosing Malia as our listing agent. We foreclosed on an investment property that was the source of structural issues among other problems with the property. It was a very high-end piece of property so I needed someone with the right reputation and that could help us get the property ready for sale without overdoing it. I also needed someone that would have a good reputation for development/redevelopment and that could handle helping the nightmare left behind by the previous owner. Understand that the house ended up with over a 500k in estimated structural repairs so this was not a minor situation. I'm also a real estate agent myself - but in the Denver Metro area - so I am very skeptical in general as most agents down here are very unimpressive professionals.Given that I saw that Malia represents many very expensive homes, an initial concern was whether she would care enough about my 3 million dollar deal to garner the attention it was going to require to have the best outcome. Would she have her assistants take care of me or would she roll up her sleeves as needed? The first good sign was when I called the number listed on Sothebys page, she answered immediately. We talked for probably 30 minutes right then and there. She also went to see the property just a few hours lateraEUR|as in the same day. Talk about getting right on it.The adage aEURoeif you want a task done right, give a busy person the jobaEUR? was true with Malia. She gets things done and will not leave you no matter how challenging the circumstance. She is an absolute workhorse. Her team is also wonderful so when they help in areas that make sense you are grateful to have them. Malia put in no less than a heroic effort on our behalf. If you are reading reviews and wondering if your property is right for Malia or not, I would tell you to ask her. She is very direct and honest. If she is not right or cannot take you on, she will connect you to the best that she knows and her standards are extremely high. I am looking forward to taking Malia out for a celebratory dinner to thank her for removing this challenge from my plate. I will refer anyone I know to her in the Vail Valley regardless of property location or price point as I know she can be trusted to treat them the way that they deserve. I will also contact her if I dont know the best agent for any property I need to buy or sell in any location as I know she will find me the best for my situation and that they will care more about me due to her involvement. When I recently found out that Malia was in the top 100 real estate agents in the world for Sothebys International Realty, I wasnt surprised at all. In a world that service often falls below expectations, Malia was an absolute star.
We discovered Malia right here on Zillow. She was everything that the other reviewers had promised and more. Malia helped us submit a competitive offer in a very difficult market. Malia's knowledge of the area and the current market conditions were very helpful when negotiating our offer. After closing on the property, she assisted us in completing necessary repairs with her trusted vendors. She and her assistants, Alex and Ilse, followed through on all of their promises. We would not hesitate to recommend Malia to our friends and family for a real estate transaction in the Vail Valley.

We left the valley and trusted selling our house to Malia. We had several serious problems that appeared in our house after we left town. Malia did a great job of handling those problems in our absence and got us above asking price for our house. Malia and her team put in long hours making sure our sale went through and we are very grateful.
Malia is amazing! I have bought, developed and sold a ton of real estate in my life and I now use Malia exclusively in the Vail Valley. She will give you the focus you deserve and is incredibly dedicated, intelligent, honest and she has great instincts. She will absolutely make the transaction as smooth as it could be. If you are looking to sell a home, she will analyze it and make suggestions on your home to ensure that you get the highest market price. For goodness sake just make sure you listen to her! If you are looking for a home she will spend countless hours finding exactly what you are looking for. She understands the Vail market like no one else. I will start with the best part. Malia got me more money than I thought my condo was worth. She seems to just go by instinct and nailed it.But, the whole process to sell my condo with her was 100% annoying and I have done dozens of other RE transactions. Everything was sent to me at the last minute. Everything was a re-do of something that was botched. I asked for comps, her response was to send everything that sold in vail village for the last two years. The worst part. When I would talk to her, I had a hard time finishing a sentence. She just talks over you, doesn't matter if you are asking a question, or telling some key piece of info. she doesn't listen, she talks. One of the most frustrating people for me to ever deal with.On the other hand.... She got me more $$$ than I thought i would get.....
I'm a majority shareholder in a mortgage banking company and have had the opportunity to work with thousands of amazing real estate agents in my lifetime. Malia is one of the best Ive had the privilege to work with. She made my wife and I feel like we were buying an 18.5 million dollar property (as we know she just sold one of those recently). We have no doubt that no matter what the price point, we would always get the same treatment from her. As it happens, we stumbled upon Malia because we had interest in one of her new listings. We quickly realized we were in a competitive situation and that the property was going to sell quickly. After speaking with Malia, we gained confidence that she was a very savvy agent and asked if she would represent us on the purchase. She outlined her role as a Sellers Agent and explained that her status would change to a transaction broker if she also worked as our agent. She explained that there are pros and cons for both the Seller and the Buyer to use a transaction broker in these circumstances. She went over it with us and explained that we could choose to work with another broker as a buyers agent. We were concerned about the timing and had faith that she was very honest about how things would work and that we should move forward with her working on both sides (listing agent and our agent). Thank goodness we did as we have no doubt that her instincts and intelligence helped us win out on a listing that was very competitive. She helped us craft the offer to appeal to the seller and we even won out with a much lower offer price than other offers that came in due to the tips she gave us on crafting the remainder of the offer terms as competitively as possible. For example, we ditched the appraisal contingency as Malia noted that the property was going to struggle to appraise and explained why. The other offer had various tough additional provisions and an appraisal so we won out with a much lower purchase price than the other offer. After we were under contract Malia helped us navigate the sales process and provided us with a recommendation for a great home inspector. She also provided us with excellent vendor resources and helped us get bids for things we wanted to accomplish as soon as we closed. Malia seems to know everyone as she has grew up in the Vail Valley. In a resort mountain town it can be very challenging to get good vendors quickly. This is not something we could have accomplished on our own but she has the influence that made it happen. Malia has great instincts and is very intelligent and hard working. She was amazing and we cannot thank her enough for helping make our dream Vail property a reality. We will refer her to anyone and everyone we can over the coming years. Thank you, Malia!!
