ZillowVERIFIEDWhere do we start with singing the praises of Kathy? We had never been to the state of Michigan prior to moving here in October 2020 and wanted to purchase our first home. Not to mention, we were in the process of wedding planning, moving across the country for new jobs, and meanwhile COVID-19 is in full swing. Lets just say a lot was up in the air personally. Moreover, 2020/2021 has been incredibly challenging time to be a buyer due to the incredibly fast pace of the market. As soon as a house hit the market you had to see it and make an offer that would be highest and best, while simultaneously knowing several homes went from full cash and $20,000 aEUR" $50,000 over listing price. So just to recap, essentially starting new lives in a place we had never been and jumping head first into the real estate deep end which we really had no idea what we were doing. Here comes Kathy to the rescue! To say that Kathy was incredibly patient, diligent, understanding, encouraging, and overall wealth of knowledge to us in this process is a massive understatement. She went so far above and beyond those adjectives and we were so blessed to have her and her team as our representatives. Throughout the home purchasing process, we had a lot of questionsaEUR|I mean a lotaEUR|and often times the same questions. Kathy made sure to take whatever time was necessary to address all of our questions and to quickly let us know if there were additional questions that we should be asking. She always made sure we were able to see any property we were interested in and was always accommodating of our work schedules which often meant late nights and full days on weekends. This was no short order as we visited well over 50 homes during our 6-month search (Oct -Mar). We made seven offers (a few with tight deadlines for her team to turn around the paperwork) and while many times we were not successful due to our budget limitations, Kathy was always there with supportive words and an unrelenting drive to keep us pushing forward. Even when we were successful in winning one house that we walked away from following inspections, she was incredibly supportive of our decisions even though it meant more work for her. Never once did she pressure us into making a decision on a home, but was always quick to inform us of potential issues because there was NO WAY she was going to let us make a bad investment. She went above and beyond in all cases to make sure we understood the process and that we eventually found a home that we loved. After six months of searching, we ended up buying an amazing house in the Holt area. In this case, Kathy was a dual representative for both us and the seller. Kathy made sure to fairly price the home and was transparent throughout the entire process. Never once did we question if we were being fairly represented or feel like we were being pressured into any decision. She even worked with the previous owners to make sure we could walk through the house twice with the contractor before buying to address some of the larger, immediate changes that needed to be addressed upon moving in. Kathys professional network from Mortgage Broker, to Home Inspector, and Contractor have all been exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating to us as new home buyers. We can safely say it is only because of Kathys character and unrelenting perseverance that made us successful in this process. We thank God for blessing us with her and her team and for anybody looking to buy a house in any market Kathy is your best shot!

ZillowVERIFIEDIf you are buying or selling property in the Lansing, Mi area you need to contact and interview Kathy Birchen. She was referred to me by a friend in the Port Huron, Mi area. I had no contacts in Lansing and was searching for a quality agent to engage to sell my mother's home. Kathy was so impressive at our first meeting that I abandoned my strategy of interviewing 3 agents to choose the best of the group to list the property. My first contact with Kathy was Aug. 2018. Unfortunately property was not listed at that time because of family issues. During the approximately 9 months of delay Kathy periodically contacted me for updates and offered to help in any way. Once listed, May 2019, property sold almost immediately, as Kathy had predicted. After accepting the offer and before closing I needed recommendations for various services, such as locksmith, estate sale organizations, and liquidators. With each request Kathy's response was immediate. From first contact until and during closing Kathy professional, efficient, and a fountain of helpful knowledge regarding the Lansing market and the process. This was not a very big sale, but Kathy and her very professional staff treated it as if it were their sale of the year. In my mind you can't go wrong is choosing Kathy to represent your interests in a real estate transaction.
