Jim Porter arrived in Emerald Bay in May 1976. He has agreed with Mark Twain' quote "the fairest picture the whole earth affords" ever since. Jim embarked on his real estate career in 1991 starting with Coldwell Banker. He has been a top producer in Lake Tahoe since then. Before he found his calling as a real estate professional, Jim worked as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes while attending Eastern Michigan University with a major in Accounting and a minor in Marketing. After making his home here at the lake, Jim worked in construction, tree removal and as a casino bartender at Del Webb's Properties. That has contributed greatly to his understanding of people, their needs, and desires. As a Realtor in both California and Nevada, Jim has sold more than 400 homes and closed over 200 Million Dollars in sales. His recreational pursuits with his family include: extreme skiing, sailing on the azure waters of Tahoe, hiking to the mountain peaks or playing golf at the amazing and challenging local courses.
