I'm passionate about home, family and the welfare of families everywhere. Owning property allows one to create a wonderful physical space to call home, but it also helps create personal wealth and stability. Seeking a better quality of life for my own family was why I moved from the Chicagoland area to West Michigan over 30 years ago. It has proved to be a great place to raise a family. Besides enjoying the many lakes and recreational opportunities in this great state, I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends and my playful puppies, and using my gifts of leadership and teaching at my local church. I have a degree in Business Management from Davenport University and for years I did contract consulting as a business/systems analyst and project coordinator. Often as a liaison or negotiator, I became a creative problem solver gifted at asking quality questions that lead to the highest and best outcomes. I bring this same skill set to my independent business as a real estate salesperson and certified home stager. 1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Meet with a couple of lenders and get a preapproval. Know what you can comfortably spend and the top items on your wishlist.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Get the advice of a professional first before prepping the home or trying to list it by yourself. I see people make critical mistakes all the time and leave money on the table because they don't understand the value of improvements, the market and the competition.
3) What types of clients have you worked with?
Both buyers and sellers.
4) Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
I recently helped a couple relocate back to our area. They were coming from an apartment in a big city and were not sure of their desires for a "forever home". I listened to both people and asked a lot of questions and then I scheduled an afternoon of open houses, showings and finely a new build in the area. By the end of the day, they not only knew what was perfect for them, they were confident enough to write an offer on the new build. When the appraisal was done for the lender, the home appraised 10% over purchase price! They had made money before they even closed the deal! They are thrilled.
5) How did you get started in Real Estate?
After a career as a business analyst and time off for family obligations, I reviewed my life-long passions and remembered my real estate interest as a young adult. Nothing was holding me back this time and I went looking for a highly respected brokerage firm in the area. I've been in the Greenridge family ever since.
6) Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
My training as a certified home stager helps both my sellers and buyers to make better decisions. Sellers often spend their time and money on things that won't help the sale and overlook simple and inexpensive things that will help the sale. Buyers are often put off by needed fixes that look expensive but aren't or overlook and minimize upgrades and maintenance issues.
