ZillowVERIFIEDBefore we met Deborah Hess in the summer of 2017, we had a very lackluster experience with our realtor. Which made the experience of working with Deborah on buying our home in Evanston so much more memorable and special. From the start, Deborah really listened to our needs in terms of budget, space and location. At the time our children were still very young, but Deborah helped us ask the right questions to zero in on the right neighborhood and school district, whereas our previous realtor had pretty much remained very tight-lipped and nonchalant about neighborhood and school quality ("You are free to look up this information on public record," she would say).Another major improvement when it came to working with Deborah was the quality of her listings and the thought she put into selecting homes for us to tour. After a few weeks, we had a few okay options, but nothing that really wowed us. We were almost ready to settle for a fixer-upper in Evanston, when Deborah had an inside scoop from a friend who was remodeling a home. That home would become our home, and we would never have found it without Deborah Hess!Once we took the tour, we knew we had found the right place. Of course there were some issues, like repairs we had to insist on and the previous owner lagging behind the timeline. Deborah was our advocate in all these steps and finally set a final deadline, after which we received a sizable credit for the outstanding repairs left undone. From there, Deborah connected us to an excellent attorney and walked us through to the finish line. We still enjoy our home and Deborah has made sure to keep in touch and helped us on other real estate projects. I cannot recommend Deborah enough and really feel grateful for meeting her that summer of 2017 and finding our first home in Chicagoland with her.
