Find a Realtor that you feel comfortable with. Your family and friends will have a ton of opinions and advice and, while they mean well... the average person purchases 3 homes in their entire lifetime. A full time Realtor works in real estate every day. They are on top of the latest market changes, requirements, trends, etc. You wouldn't invest hundreds of thousands of dollars without the advise of an investment specialist. Don't invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in real estate without a real estate expert.

Your home is typically your largest investment. Shouldn't it be your best? If you are selling your largest asset, you should have a full time Realtor with experience and knowledge in your market. There is more to listing property than just putting a price and an ad with your address. The trends in your market place, fair market value, appraisal issues, title issues, etc can all come into play when selling a property. Buying and selling real estate is a very personal transaction. People must trust you to buy or sell their home. I recently sold a home where this couple had raised their family. They had been there over 30 years and were very hesitant about the entire process. I walked them through all of steps, the "what ifs" and the time frames for everything. They took a year to get the guts up to pull the plug. When they did, everything went exactly as it was explained to them. They were thrilled and we found their new home. I believe we have established a lifelong friendship. There is a trust that is established when you do what you tell someone. That's my favorite part of this business...

I was a mortgage broker for 10 years while my kids were younger. I was able to do that mostly from home while I raised my kids.
