1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Don't hesitate. Here in the Sarasota area, homes sell fast. I'm the analytical type so I completely relate to the hesitant buyer (we like to do our due diligence!) however when it comes to buying a home here, you're way better off make your offers quickly and competitively.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Once you find a great real estate agent to sell your home, trust them to do what they do best. Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing you made a solid decision and hired a professional to handle the job.
3) What types of clients have you worked with?
I've had clients from Canada, the UK, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, Georgia, Indiana, on both the buying and listing side. I've also worked with clients on 1031 exchanges (investment properties), probate (inherited properties), duplexes and other multi-family investment properties, and luxury waterfront listings as well as the more traditional single-family home buyers, first time homebuyers, people upsizing and downsizing, and relocating from or to other places. I've worked with a LOT of clients who have purchased or sold properties with me sight-unseen through video calls.
4) Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
I worked with a very nice couple from Canada who couldn't get back to the US during the pandemic and wanted to sell their home here in Sarasota. They were understandably nervous about hiring someone they had only met on the phone and video calls. We spoke a lot on the phone and walked through every step of the process. This articulate, well-educated couple decided to list with me and trust me to work in their best interests even though they were 2000 miles away. Their trust in me was incredibly motivating; I wanted nothing more than to make them feel reassured and confident in their decision. I had the home cleaned and staged, and went to work getting them a full price, cash offer on their house and we closed in less than a month. During this process we spoke often and found that we had a lot of interests in common, including wine tasting! Now they are my go-to resource for pairing wine and we still email and text back and forth when one of us finds a wine we think the other will enjoy!
5) How did you get started in Real Estate?
Sideways. I'll admit it, I didn't start out thinking it would be fun to be in real estate. Nope, I came here the long way around! First a teacher, then a magazine editor, then a digital marketer...and finally a realtor. Those three past careers set a solid foundation for a successful real estate business. The teacher in me is eager to answer every question; the writer in me loves writing up property and neighborhood descriptions (if you get my Sarasota Neighborhoods emails, you understand!) ; and the digital marketer in me is thrilled to list and sell properties using all the best tools.
6) Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
Absolutely. I love education and am a voracious learner so I take as much training as I can get my hands on. I am a Certified Pricing Strategies Advisor, a Certified Listing Agent, I've earned the Commitment to Excellence Certification, and aside from the "realtor" type certifications, I'm also a certified digital marketer which comes in very handy for listing and selling homes.
