Christian's story begins in the picturesque town of St. Joseph, where he was born and raised. For most of his life, St. Joseph was not just a place on the map; it was home, a place filled with cherished memories and the warmth of family. In 2018, Christian embarked on a new chapter when he and his family made the move to Savannah, Missouri, where they now call home. With a steadfast commitment to education, Christian graduated from Missouri Western State University (MWSU) with dual bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Finance. His academic journey laid the foundation for a career that would span two decades with one of the world's most renowned logistics companies, UPS. Christian's dedication and work ethic during and after graduation were evident as he contributed his skills and knowledge to the UPS team. However, life has a way of guiding us toward new horizons, and Christian decided to embark on a career change that would lead him to the dynamic world of real estate. 1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Do some preliminary market research, get pre-approved from a local or trusted lender, set a budget, prioritize needs vs wants and work with a real estate agent. Guidance from professionals is very important. Choose honest and reliable professionals to be on your side.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Price it competitively, enhance curb appeal, and work with a reputable real estate agent for effective marketing. Pick the right agent who will do professional listing materials, work hard and be in your corner with superb negotiating skills. Be flexible.
3) What types of clients have you worked with?
I have worked with nearly every type of clients. From first time home buyers to clients with luxury homes. I've worked with many different investor, big, small and first timers as well. I've worked with many commercial clients, from your average tenant all the way to representing a corporation. My favorite is land and farms. I have had the pleasure of working with several of these clients as well. I hope to continue to find a new type I have not worked with yet. It's always interesting and different each time.
4) Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
I had a young, single, first time home buyer and at his price point, the market was extremely tough. We lost out on the first 2 homes in multiple offer situations, due the just did not have as much buying power as others. We came together, drew up a new strategy, I asked him to trust me and the next home he wanted, we would implement this plan. A week or so later, that opportunity arose and we won the contract on another multiple offer situation, a home that actually ended up with 7 offers. We had to get creative and offer other terms that held high value to a seller, since we knew we probably would not have the highest price. We worked diligently through a tough and competitive market, and I'm not sure who was more excited he got the house!
5) How did you get started in Real Estate?
Interesting story. I was involved in an accident and from this I broke my neck and back. After a long recovery and 2 surgeries, I was still not able to return to my previous job. I set out on a new venture and through a good friend of mine, who is also our broker, we decided to give real estate a shot. I was blown away how well I enjoyed this career and how quickly I picked it up. I wish I had done it years before.
6) Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
I have 2 bachelor degrees from MWSU, one in Accounting and one in Finance. I have acquired my CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation, my MRP (Military Relocation Professional) certification and my RENE (Real Estate Negotiation Expert) certification.
