Who you chose for a Real Estate Agent will make a huge difference in not only saving potential pitfalls, saving money and other items. An experienced and Aggressive Real Estate agent is great about finding properties that may not be currently on the market. I would also recommend that you find a fantastic lender who explains things to you properly and one that is paid on commission. The reason I say that is they are usually also more aggressive and generally will work during the peak home-buying hours. ex: Evenings, Weekends. Do not hesitate to point-blank ask an Agent how they plan on marketing your home and what makes them different from the rest of the Agents. This industry is based on perception and some of the "top agents" are necessarily the best person to list your home. I would not focus so much on people knowing the neighborhood as someone who has a deep understanding of technology and someone who has a great system in place to ensure that you will not have any snags in the selling process. I actually fell into Real Estate on accident as I was not happy with the skill level and marketing of most Agents and I had many rentals and I did flips prior to being in Real Estate. I wanted to provide a great service and help people sell their homes more affordable than the standard brokerage. We built our family-based Brokerage from scratch and figured it out so we could essentially cut out the middle man to save the seller who is stuck paying all the expenses so they can keep more money in their pocket.

Outside of a few technology degrees including an MBA in Technology, I have purchased well over $100,000 in training and webinars, and since I am a lifelong learner I have spent thousands of hours independently learning all I can about Real Estate and Mortgage. I have gone through multiple certifications not limited to Certified Buyer Rep, Certified Seller Rep, Foreclosure Specialist, GRE training, and certifications for new home construction. I have also been in Mortgage, Construction, and Real Estate for well over 10 years.
