About Bradley Mitchell
My name is Bradley Mitchell, I am 26 years old, and I was born and raised in Sherman, ME; the southern part of "The County," (Aroostook, County). Between the years of 2016 and 2019, I attended Eastern Maine Community College where I would go on to graduate with my AS in Medical Radiography. People often ask me, "Well Brad, why did you go into real estate," and the answer is very simple: it's because after what felt like riding a roller coaster with the thrill and excitement of closing on my very own two homes, I was inspired to change careers. I wanted to be on the other side of the closing table to help others achieve this level of excitement! After my second home purchase, I decided it would be in my family and I's best interest to help others spend their money effectively and efficiently instead of my own. This is good news for you because this means I get to spend time working tenaciously to assist with your goals. I am all done moving... for now anyway. The joy on closing day makes the roller coaster ride worth it every single time. 1) What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
get pre-Qualified! Not every lender will be a good fit for you, so please do your research and choose one that best fits your needs.
A pre qualification is an official document that says a bank or credit union is willing to lend you a specific amount of money based on your income, assets and liabilities. You can start your search knowing how much house you can afford—not just in terms of its price tag but also in terms of monthly payments. You will be able to compare listings with this knowledge at hand and avoid wasting time or money on homes that are outside your price range.
2) What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
This is one of the most important things to think about before you list your property if it's your primary residence. Here are a few options for you!
Can you can get a mortgage without having to sell? Consider buying a home first and list yours after. We've listed a few of our favorite mortgage lenders below!
Many sellers will sell their home and rent (or stay with family/friends) until they find the right home so they aren't rushed into a purchase.
Consider asking your buyer for a "rent back". This is a contingency you can add to the contract allowing you to stay in the home after closing for a determined period of time.
You may choose to sell and buy at the same time.
Before or during the time your home is listed you
will be shopping and making offers on a home to
purchase. We call this a back to back closing where
you would close on both properties on the same day.
