Buying a home is stressful. Buying your first home without ever seeing it in person, in a town youve never been to, in the relatively short time period before your medical residency starts, and doing it all with a little baby at home is really stressful. But Allison Gamel at RE/MAX Plus made the entire process as easy (and fun) as it could be given the circumstances. Shes open, friendly, communicative, and honest, pointing out potential issues with the various houses we looked at... something I particularly appreciated since I couldnt see the houses in person. She worked her butt off for us, responding to calls, emails, and texts at all hours of the day, all days of the week. Ellen taught us how to do our Adult Homework about preparing our old house for sale, held our hands through the process, and sold the house for $15,000 more than we'd bought it for after 2 days on the market. She got to know us well enough to help us find our perfect fit home and helped us move in for $4,000 less than the asking price. When we were looking for our new house, she could see things that we couldn't with her Ellen-colored realtor eyeglasses (i.e. loads of expertise paired with intuitive wisdom about humans and homes) and advised us if a house would require too much work and too much money to fix up, knowing what she knew about us, even if she could've gotten more money by encouraging us to buy it. Since we have moved, Ellen remains always available by phone with useful homeowner's advice in moments of need with words of comfort, actions to take, and a hilarious story to go along with it. (She recently rescued us from a clogged sink, and the soggy sock snaked from our pipes reminded her of a bathtub project her young song had taken up many years ago of pushing a wash cloth down the drain!) We HATE moving and love our new house and neighborhood so much that we want to stay here until we die when we are 100 (we're 36) but we love Ellen so much that we are slightly tempted to move again, just to have an excuse to spend more time with her! Our relationship with Ellen is tied for the most satisfying and helpful relationship with a hired professional in the history of our lives. We are honored to be her neighbors (for life!) in the Greater Rochester Area.
