My agent wants to have four open houses. Two this weekend and two next weekend. I feel like most home sales usually have one on a Sunday. Is four too many open houses? What's the right number?

The right amount of open houses depends on several factors, such as the type of property, its location, the local market conditions, and your personal marketing strategy. On average, 3-4 open houses can be sufficient for generating interest and attracting potential buyers. However, more open houses may be necessary in a highly competitive market or for a luxury property. Ultimately, the goal is to balance the frequency of open houses with their effectiveness in finding the right buyer for your property.
The more open houses the better. The more available the home is to potential buyers the better. It can be a bit of a pain to leave and have the house presentable for the open houses and that will have to be something that you will have to decide if its worth it. If you are very motivated as a seller then more open houses certainly cant hurt.
In a month ,there is no one-size-fits-all answer for this question because it depends on the market and requirements of the particular real estate listing. Generally, however, it is recommended that between two and four open houses are held in a month.
The right number of open houses depends on several factors, including the market conditions in your area, the type of property you are selling, and your personal preferences. While having one open house on a Sunday may be a common practice, having more open houses can increase exposure and potentially generate more interest in your property. Ultimately, the decision on the right number of open houses should be made in consultation with your real estate agent, who has a better understanding of the local market and can provide you with guidance based on their experience.
Buyers are the most interested in a home when it first comes on the market. The correct number of open houses, depends on the market area. If your REALTOR indicates that four is the right number, then they are the area experts. If you are having some hesitations, talk them thru with your REALTOR. A good agent will help you feel at ease as you make decision together thru the process.
There’s no magic number — it depends on the strategy.
In many markets, the first 7–14 days are the most critical. Holding multiple open houses during that window can maximize exposure and create urgency, especially if inventory is tight.
Four open houses over two weekends isn’t necessarily too many — if the goal is strong early activity and competitive offers.
What matters more than the number is:
• Pricing strategy
• Marketing reach
• Showing activity
• Buyer feedback
Open houses are just one tool. If they’re part of a coordinated launch strategy, they can be very effective.
If you’d like, I’m happy to explain how open house strategy works in Wichita specifically.
There really isn’t a set “right” number of open houses. Many homes may only have one, but some agents schedule multiple during the first couple of weeks to maximize exposure while the listing is still new and getting the most attention online.
Two the first weekend and another the following weekend isn’t unusual if the goal is to capture as many buyers as possible early on. The most important thing is whether your agent has a clear strategy behind it and is also actively marketing the property beyond just the open houses.
There’s no set “right” number, it depends on the market and demand. Most homes do 1–2 open houses the first weekend to capture initial interest, which is usually when activity is highest. Four isn’t necessarily wrong, but it can be more than needed unless there’s strong traffic or a specific strategy. The honest reality is open houses rarely sell that specific home, they’re mostly a tool for exposure and for agents to meet new buyers, though they can still help create urgency early on. A solid approach is 1–2 the first weekend, then adjust based on traffic and feedback.
There isn’t one perfect number of open houses, and four isn’t automatically too many. The right amount depends on your location, price range, and how much buyer traffic your home is getting.
In many markets, one open house can be enough, but having more can make sense when you want maximum exposure quickly or when showings have been limited. Two in one weekend (like Saturday and Sunday) can capture different groups of buyers.
The most important thing is that the open houses have a clear purpose and a plan. If you’re doing multiple open houses, your agent should be tracking feedback, turnout, and whether it’s leading to private showings or offers. If it isn’t producing results after the first one or two, it may be time to adjust the strategy instead of repeating the same approach.
